Bikejoring

Bikejoring interesting sports to be timed with CloudTimer.  Bikejoring can be described as mountain biking with your dog, speed can be very high with a well trained team of a good biker and a strong dog. Bikejoring can also be done on a kickbike.

The number of teams and different disciplines involved in a race, requires efficient and easy timing. If possible splits taken somewhere on the course to get intermediate results. It’s a relative young sport discipline, but of course using dog in sled races is commonly known in the arctic regions. CloudTimer provides the platform to time the race and display the results live at the internet using just a couple of smartphones. No expensive hardware or professional timing team has to be hired. The timing can be done by a trained crew of volunteers.

Characteristics of bikejoring

Bikejoring is an individual sport and mostly the competitors and their dogs start at a fixed interval time of about 30 to 60 seconds. As the teams start at a fixed start interval, it is always possible to manage the finish density to a certain extent, in order to be able to provide accurate timing. The top teams of dogs and athletes could be granted a bit more start interval time.
It is also possible to have multiple finish devices available at the finish.  Live split time updates can be interesting for the spectators as sometimes large distances are covered along the beach and can be hard to follow the race.

When timing a bikejoring race, it is possible to use just use manual timing. If the times have to be more accurate, it is possible to connect the finish button to a Alge Timy or a Tag Heuer CP5xx and send the times to the smartphone at the finish using bluetooth, the exact time will be online in a matter of seconds.
