Open water swimming is a very challenging sport, which usually has a limited number of competitors and a limited budget. The media attention and followers however, can be significant. When using CloudTimer, there is no need for timing chips and you can have as many split points as you’d like to have without increasing the costs. The spectators on the shore or at the club can follow the race on the internet results page and see the virtual standings at the intermediate points.
CloudTimer is easy to use in a Open Water Swimming race.
Most open water swimming races, are held in a mass start format. The swimmers may be swimming in groups, but the speeds are low, (as compared to other sports) enabling the times to be taken by hand. As long as there is internet coverage at start and finish, and preferably at the split points as well, open water swimming can be done with CloudTimer. There is no need to hire expensive professional timing crew, but training the staff or volunteers to gain some experience will be needed when organising an open water swimming race.
Why use would you use timing chips? They cause a great logistic hassle and can be lost during the race. Use CloudTimer instead!
